Students in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe have difficulty finding suitable and effective internship projects and / or work experience places. This affects both their professional development as well as the connection to the labour market. The Group aims to create projects in which these 'shortcomings' are filling this gap. Group for European Development would like to work in a dual way. By creating projects, the foundation will contribute to this European problem and will address it. At the same time the Group will contribute to many problems depopulated areas have.
Furthermore, students gain experience by internships. This work experience will offer wider creative entrepreneurial development and provide an European vision. Local governments and communities will also develop through the participation of students in the community. Their presence will stimulate creativity and entrepreneurship at a local level and might create a potential halt to an exodus of a depopulated area. When the local government has assignments for students, Group for European Development will carefully take into account the local culture and craft, and as far as possible encourage authenticity (culture) to preserve the community and tradition, and to promote sustainable continuation.
Group for European Development would like students, institutions, businesses -especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs)- to connect on an international level and offer a platform for further development.
Depopulated areas offer interesting assignments for internships. These areas have a very wide range of problems. Studies can be done and vision could be worked out for the future (in coordination with local government).
Finally, the foundation would like to promote the sharing of knowledge by being highly transparent. Promoting the concept to make it divisible and to stimulate youth employment, activating local economies and European integration (youth and connecting SMEs at international level).
Where possible, student teams will be mixed as much as possible. Not only on an international level but also mixed on an educational level. For example, a water management team could have an Italian and Dutch student, middle and higher vocational education. This enhances the learning proces. The language will be in English. All students should be able to communicate in basic English. Both students could learn each others languages as a bonus. The international students should learn basic Italian to communicate with the local community, helped by the Italian students.
